Welcome to The Village
From pre- and post-war population booms to a serene modern family retreat, The Village is one of San Mateo’s most established and desirable neighborhoods
Bounded by US Route 101 to the east and California State Route 82 to the west, The Village is a small, peaceful neighborhood just south of the Bay Meadows community in San Mateo. Referred to as San Mateo Village, Glendale Village, or simply, The Village, this little slice of family-friendly haven is one of the safest in San Mateo.
The Village experienced most of its growth during the post-WWII era boom when the population doubled, and new subdivisions sprang up to accommodate. The area is highly prized for its location, and residents have quick, efficient access to several major commuting arteries as well as a short trip to the commercial bustle of Downtown San Mateo.
One of the best neighborhoods for families just starting out, couples, first-time buyers, or even retirees and empty-nesters looking to downsize, The Village is a mecca of affordable yet upscale 2- and 3-bedroom homes, ranging in styles from mid-century ranches and craftsman bungalows to the traditional suburban single-family abode.
